Irving and Mount Pleasant streets, 8:50 to 9:45 p.m. Dec. 4. A group of male teenagers approached a male pedestrian and robbed him of a cellphone. The four then followed him to Mount Pleasant Street and Hobart Place. Three 14-year-old males and a 12-year-old male were arrested.


This unfortunately describes all too many of the robberies in Mount Pleasant: juveniles, schoolkids, doing violence in small groups. Robbery in general, not just here, is dominated by youths in the 14 to 26 age range. They start young, then "age out" of the business in their mid-20s, perhaps when they figure out that the consequences can be truly serious.
