Wanted to send out an alert that we came home about 15 minutes ago to find someone casing cars in front of our house (17th and Newton). We did not witness any car break-ins, but saw someone carrying a bag of tools and going from car to car looking through windows and trying doors. Guy headed west on Newton towards Mount Pleasant St. Both my husband and I called 911, and were told they would dispatch a unit. However, I did not see one drive past our house so not sure if the police showed up or not. Hopefully the attention was a deterrent. If anyone in this area has their car broken into and needs a description of what we saw please feel free to message me.
