On Saturday, with no prior notice, PEPCO replaced my electric meter and simply put a hang-tag on my door afterwards. Obviously, that cut service to my house for a while, and when service was restored, some things didn't restart, while some started all on their own.
Since this was a non-emergency situation I have no idea why PEPCO decided to do this unannounced.
Anyone else with any experience with, or insight into, this?

We got a notice in the mail that PEPCO is installing "Smart-meters". This must be it.
Does anybody know how to say no to the new meters (they are not "Solar-compatible" and can't run backward.
Thanks,

| Pepco sent out a mailing sometime in late August or early September warning that they would be in the area mid-October. The provided details on how to make an appointment if your meter is inaccessible, i.e., behind a locked gate. |

Curious - where did you find out that they were not solar compatible? Sounds like if that is the case, that is something that should get addressed now so that they meters can grow with the needs of PEPCO customers over the coming decade.

| When one installs a solar system, PEPCO does install a meter that will go backwards. They may have decided not to install those meters universally, though. |
