Hello neighbors!
I'm China and I'm running to be the next Commissioner for ANC 1D05. The boundaries of 1D05 extend west from 17th Street and Mt. Pleasant Street to Adams Mill Road; and south from Lamont Street to Hobart Street.
I live at 1900 Lamont Street. I work for DC City Councilmember Tommy Wells, as legislative counsel to the Committee on Human Services.
I've met many of you in 1D05 by now, because I've knocked on your door, met you at our ANC meetings, or just walking down the street. I haven't met all of you yet, but I certainly intend to do so.
I'm still out there knocking doors and looking to learn your concerns, desires, or general sentiments regarding our beautiful Mt. Pleasant.
If you have any questions or would like to meet for coffee, just let me know. My email is [u:[email address removed - log in to view]. In the meantime, here's a little more info about what kind of commissioner I will be for you...
MISSION AS YOUR COMMISSIONER
My mission would be to provide you smart and reliable leadership that you can trust – first, to solicit your input and, second, to get you answers on the issues that matter most to you.
GOALS AS YOUR COMMISSIONER
• Getting you timely and thorough information (through a medium that works for you) so that you feel better positioned to provide me input as your representative.
• Providing the smart, yet sensitive leadership necessary to avoid gridlock at our ANC meetings, to bridge neighborhood differences, and to continue the collaboration between our residential property owners and small businesses.
• Leveraging my understanding of District government to ensure that the District’s revitalization plans for Mt. Pleasant continue to involve robust community input.
MY PLEDGE TO YOU
To be the best ANC Commissioner that I can for you, I pledge to draw on—
• my experience as a corporate lawyer to continue administrative excellence within our ANC;
• my background as a student of languages and culture to bring you 21st century leadership that focuses on cross-culturalism, dialogue, & collaboration;
• my passion for public policy and long-term municipal planning to represent your concerns to government in the most effective and accurate way possible; and
• my relative youth (I’m 32) to bring new energy and vibrancy to our ANC meetings.
I'm off work now and headed home shortly to door knock... see you soon!

| I think it would be great if others who are running for ANC posted an announcement or introduction here, like Ms. Terrell. Good luck to you! |

| China Terrell's the only candidate on the ballot for ANC 1D05 (currently represented by Dave Bosserman). She's attended many of our monthly meetings, knows what our ANC is about, and will, IMHO, be a marvelous commissioner. -- Jack |

Ms. Kelly and Jack, thank you both so much for your support. I look forward to reaching out to you Kelly and hearing any concerns or wishes you have for our neighborhood. And, Jack I hope to work with you soon, and lean into your wisdom about the ANC and our government agencies.
Ms. Kelly, my email is [email address removed - log in to view]. It would be great to hear your thoughts on our neighborhood.

Jack is great for a lot of things (the only ANC rep active on this list for example) and is a great resource for information but please, please don't take his "I got elected and now this is my kingdom" attitude and LISTEN to people in your part of the neighborhood.
I am in D05 and it would be great to have a ANC rep who actually listen to people's opinion.... (even AFTER the elections
This said: Thanks for running and good luck with your upcoming responsibility!

Yes, ma'am. I will listen. Thanks for holding me accountable.
Please let me know if you have any other concerns or wishes for our neighborhood. I am here to be your voice. My email is [email address removed - log in to view].
I'll recommence door-knocking right after the primaries (and I'll continue to do that on a regular basis throughout the term). If I haven't been on your door-step yet, I will be soon. I look forward to meeting with you!
