Wondering what plants are what? Which ones should stay or go? How native landscaping can enhance the character of your historic home?
Join Historic Mt. Pleasant for an informative, hands- on landscaping seminar conducted by local native plant expert and landscape architect Mary Pat Rowan.
You’ll learn the importance of native landscaping in the context of Mt. Pleasant’s historic character, improving the overall neighborhood aesthetic, promoting biodiversity, saving water and reducing runoff.
Saturday, June 19th
9:30 – 11:00am
Tour meets in front of Heller’s on Mt. Pleasant St. (and will conclude at Bancroft in case you'd like to drop in to give input to the Office of Planning on its draft Revitalization Plan for MtP Street).
Topics will include:
· The importance of native landscaping
· Plant identification
· Common invasive plants and what to do with them
· Food gardens
· Rain barrels, watering and surface water management
· Fencing requirements and suggestions
Price: $5 Historic Mt. Pleasant members/ $15 non-members(applicable towards new membership)
