| I am a new resident in Mt. Pleasant. Do any of you have any recommendations on best, most reliable (i.e. quick response) taxi company(s) serving Mt. Pleasant. Where I used to live Diamond Cab was the king. Who holds that title in Mt. Pleasant? Please share tel. numbers. |

It's hit or mis, I tend to use yellow cab...but my best bet is writing down the number on the side of any of the cabs parked in the neighborhood. Cruise by some of the apts. in our neighborhood and jot down a few. I lucked out and found one who lives around the corner from me - he's great! Good luck.

There's really no "best, most reliable" cab company that will get a car to you fast and predictably in our neighborhood. Scheduling ahead doesn't work and calling the morning of is touch and go. Have an early flight and need a ride to the airport? Hire a car service or face a possible scramble. Have some flexibility or want a "quick response" to get someplace in town? Walk to 16th St. and catch a cab heading south. Calling ahead simply hasnt' worked for us. Not Diamond. Not Yellow and certainly not any of the other options. |

I've had good luck a couple times when arranging an early morning ride to National via red top out of Arlington. The guy came right on time.

My experience is the same. After struggling with the unreliability of phone-appointed cabs, we've taken up simply going to 16th and Lamont and flagging a cab. Ordinarily it takes just seconds to land a cab that way.
If you're not close enough to 16th to do that, then Yellow's your best bet.

I'm afraid I have had problems with Diamond (and Yellow, and every other one I've tried). Red Top is reliable to National and Dulles, and their car service works in the District (but obviously is more expensive). Other than that, you have to be able to live with a cab not showing reliably or walk.
