| I just moved into the neighborhood from Arlington and I'm very pleased to see there's a forum like this where residents can discuss community concerns. However, I'm fortunate in that I'm pretty internet savvy and was able to search for the site. Is there a way to advertise the site offline, e.g. street posters, mailings? With a site like this the more users, the better. I'd be willing to help. |

| We advertise in the stores and local community newspapers and email forums. We also have computers at the library for people who do not have internet service. We are certainly open for more help and your suggestions. |

How about a subscription feature, allowing periodic announcements to be mailed out to all those on the list? This should at least increase the acitivity of those already familiar with the site.
Also, mass-mailings can be very effective especially in an already well-defined area.
I know this is a lot of effort and will require money. Has there been any interest from merchants or anyone else in sponsoring the site? |

I appreciate the fact of this forum but it clearly suffers from a lack of usage. I am responding to a posting over three years old.
The problem is the categories which don't invite public participation (sort of like this country at large). I think, though, that the present set-up may be useful in an archival way.
I prefer the style of the former (and original?) mt. pleasant forum which I am told was a list-serv (I don't know what that means). The beauty of that forum was that you scrolled through in one page all (all) the postings with no links and no categories. (as in the young days of the the town crier.........It was a neighborhood crier).
It would be nice if someone could take that on (I believe it is a lot of work and a headache, which is why we no longer have that).

Here are some stats that you might find useful
Number of visits per day: 15.1
Number of posts: 16997 Posts per day: 12.01
Number of topics: 5083 Topics per day: 3.59
We have over 6,000 users--1, 527 who are active.
If you want a list serv that provides postings with not much back and forth interaction and conversation, you might want to visit:

But here, like it or not, was have lots of interaction and conversation--more than most list servs out there.
