What about putting motion-sensored flood lights back there? Would that mitigate the problem without having to gate off the alley?

Certainly for nighttime activities, motion-sensor lights are a superb deterrent. -- Jack

Motion lights are good at night, maybe the ANC can pay to have them installed. But as to emergency access, the gate wasn't supposed to be locked, someone put a lock on it and it was removed--but that isn't a problem either--locks can be cut.

So I am curious as to why Jack's SMD supported the removal of the gates. Jack, can you provide us some examples as to what people in your SMD were thinking when you took that position?
