From what I understand the city is pretty far along in their process of realigning the schools and part of the plan is to covert Bancroft into a "Fine Arts Magnet / Neighborhood School"
Does the ANC know when the decision will be made?
Has the ANC weighed in with the neighborhood's position? or are they taking a pass on this big issue?
Thanks,

| Does anyone know if Magnet Schools in the district are high schools only. I have a feeling that afternoons near Bancroft will be very different then afternoons next to an elementary school. |

Yes, Bancroft does currently have a specialized program, its bilingual curriculum.
The proposed change is to make it into a "Fine Arts Magnet" ELEMENTARY school.
I have not gotten a good explanation of what it means to be a Fine Arts Magnet school. Sounds interesting, but without details I don't have the information upon which to decide if this is a good idea or not.
Perhaps the new ANC committee on Education can help us find out.
