sent today via email: Dear Commissioners,
It has been a week now and I haven’t heard from any of the Commissioners, except for Jack’s personal opinion. I would like to know if you will put this issue on your January agenda: Withdraw Protest for Corados, Marx, Radius and Tonic. This email is not intended for debate, but for a response by the elected officials.
Jack has already publicly posted that he will move that Mr. Corado’s restaurant be released from the ANC protest. He said, “Joe Corado's been a Mount Pleasant restaurateur for years, and yes, I like him and respect him for his work in his two establishments here. So I'm ready to cut him a break. Jeremy Pollok's tirades did him no good. ….any restaurant offering live entertainment ought to be in the Responsible Hospitality Partnership, talking with the neighbors about any problems.”
Let’s hope that this ANC is fair and equal to all 4 restaurants’ request to drop the ANC protest against all of them. I have heard that the non-immigrant owners are being put in a blackmail-type situation—if they don’t sign the ANC VA—the ANC will continue their protest. But Mr. Corado is an exception. Bravo! Yet this ANC is going to treat the non-immigrant business owners tougher—not equally? Is that true? It certainly seems that way because if you drop your protest for Corados, you must drop your protest with the others. And your reason cannot be to sign your voluntary agreement requiring them to join the Responsible Hospitality Partnership.
We would like to get a large turnout in support for the withdrawal of the ANC protest of Corados, Marx, Tonic and Radius at your January meeting, so please someone respond with a decision as to whether it will be put on the agenda.
Thank you. |

Blackmail: payment forced by threats to reveal damaging information
What "damaging information" are you imagining that we're threatening "the non-immigrant owners" with?
And why this peculiar distinction between "immigrant" and "non-immigrant" owners?

Jack,
I make it my point to gather information. People think the ANC is discriminating against the non-immigrant business owners. You even said that Marx, Tonic and Radius have the money and a good lawyer to fight it.
Further, this answer is unacceptable.
As you well know, Laurie, the correct approach to this is to persuade a commissioner to sponsor a motion to this effect. As you know, I'll introduce a motion to withdraw the ANC protest of the renewal of the Corado's license. But I don't intend to go beyond that, so you'll have to look for support from someone else on this ANC.
