Okay, I know there are more serious issues in our neighorhood, but...
Directly in front of my house is one of those cobra-style street lights. It shines light in all directions and throws so much light into my front upstairs windows that not even blinds keep the light out (and I don't want to put up heavy curtains). Between the street light and street noise, my front bedroom is almost unusable as such.
I recently noticed that the next street light down (I'm on the 1700 block of Irving St.), also a cobra-style, doesn't shine ANY light up or to the side--in fact as I was looking at it from my upstairs windows I thought the light was burned out and couldn't figure out what was lighting the sidewalk below it! The difference is, quite literally, like night and day. There are at least a couple more like this on my street. So are there two completely different kinds of fixtures and/or bulbs, and is there any way I can get the second kind in front of my house? |
