My three-year-old son and his babysitter were recently asked to leave Playstart by a Bancroft teacher(s) who said that, for liability reasons, the public could not use the Playstart playground between 11am and 3pm. My babysitter knows very well that Playstart was built by the community, for the community, and she was rather upset to be asked to leave.

According to the Playstart website, it "will be open to the community during and after school, holidays and weekends." It also says the HeadStart and pre-K students will be using the playground "primarily between 11 AM and 12:30 PM. During that time, other preschool-age children will also be welcome."

Does anyone involved with Playstart know if the official policy for public use has changed, or who I can contact to clear up the confusion?

playStart is open to community kids all the time. On our website, www.playstart.org, there is a letter from Ms. Thompson stating this. I think there may be some new teachers who are not aware of this. If you are told to leave, please find out the teacher's name and let me [email address removed - log in to view] and Ms. Thompson [email address removed - log in to view] know.
