Come join the board of directors of an energetic and growing non-profit organization serving the Mount Pleasant Neighborhood and its commercial corridor located in Washington DC!
Mount Pleasant Main Street
Mission: Funded by the Restore DC Program, the mission of the Mount Pleasant Main Street organization is to attract more people to shop on Mount Pleasant Street by supporting the local merchants while enhancing the physical and economic features of the commercial district.
Position: Organization Committee Chair
Purpose: The Organization Committee Chair oversees administrative, volunteer and fund raising operations of the Mount Pleasant Main Street organization.
Duties and Responsibilities may include the following:
-Manage and support organization administration and back office including contact database, administration portal and website
-Build relationships with MPMS board, members, donors, and volunteers
-Recruit, assign and supervise committee volunteers and projects
-Organize training and orientations sessions for board members and volunteers
-Initiate and participate in fund development and donor lists
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Good communication skills
- Outgoing and motivated
- Team management experience
- Basic computer knowledge (MS Office and Internet)
- Experience with websites and on-line communites a plus
- Knowledge of English and Spanish a plus
- Former board or non-profit experience a plus but not required
Minimum Organization Chair Commitments:
- Work 3 to 5 hours a month including 1 board meeting and one committee/volunteer meeting per month
- Learn Main Street Approach;
- Recruit and orient new members and track membership
- Prepare in advance for meetings
- Draft annual workplans
- Manage and participate in volunteer projects
- Meet cool people, learn new skills, and have fun !
