Where can the MPNA by-laws be found? Now that I'm a member, I'd like to know the rules of the organization. -- Jack

How about posting those by-laws, Laurie? Surely that would take only a moment. -- Jack

Laurie: does the MPNA not have by-laws? -- Jack

The same could be said of the ANC. I see that some portion of the ANC bylaws are even on the March agenda.

ANC by-laws can be found here:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/MountPleasantDC/files/ANC_1D/

I'll post them here, for reference, as well.

Laurie, a month has passed since my first request that you post the MPNA by-laws. Why no reply to this simple request? -- Jack

Jack, did you ever get a copy of those bylaws? I have considered joining MPNA off and on for several years, if only to figure out what they do and how truly representative they are of our neighborhood, but if a member can't get a copy of the bylaws, why should I bother? All I can say right now is that I am not a member of MPNA, and they most definitely don't speak for me.

(BTW does anybody have any idea just how many members MPNA has?)

There has been no reply whatsoever to my requests for the MPNA by-laws. I know another member who has asked for them directly from the MPNA Secretary. Again, no response.

The MPNA claims 600 members. But who knows? Why should anyone believe their claim? The organization functions in complete secrecy. If they've got anything like 600 dues-paying members, that's $12,000 a year they're collecting in membership dues. Has anyone ever seen an accounting of their funds? What's being done with this money? Surely they have an ethical responsibility to report to their membership what they're doing with those annual dues.

Three months on, and no reply. I renew my call for the MPNA by-laws. Why are these kept secret? Are there by-laws, or is Laurie running this organization with no rules at all?
