Woke up to helicopters flying overhead repeatedly with search lights pointed down towards Bankcroft Elementary School by the Park. Does anyone know anything about this? Thanks.

I think what you're referring to was a police chase of a stolen car which originated in 1D or 3D and ended in 4D. The suspects (4) crashed near Hiatt and Irving and fled across the rec center field towards 16th St. We caught all of them, but only one was charged on weapons charges, and the other three identified and released.

In reference to the helicopter on 12/3/01:
That night units from the Fourth District responded to the 2000 block of Park Rd NW for a burglary in progress. Once on the scene units responded to the alley and some of the officers heard someone running in the yards. We request that the helicopter assist us in trying to find the person that was in the backyards. We were unable to locate anyone from the ground or in the air.
I interviewed the complainant that had made the call, and she stated she had seen a male in her back yard but he never attempted to gain entry into her house.
