Dear Sir/Madam - Every street light between 17th and 18th streets on Kilbourne Place has been out for at least two nights. This is nothing new: one light has been out on the block since we moved here over a year ago, and three lights have been out for the last six months; plus, we seem to have very dim lights compared to neighboring blocks, and we have had full block outages several times over the last year, once for more than a week. I have made more than half a dozen calls to 727-1000 and directly to 269-0855, the Department of Public Works number for street light outages. Most calls were answered very cheerfully, but our lights continue to go out, and I have twice been told about a vague "current problem" that may or may not be DPW's jurisdiction (???!!!!). I and my neighbors view the street light situation as a serious public safety issue, especially in light (!) of the recent serious rise in burglaries in our area. We need a permanent solution to the problem. Is there anything that you can do to help us get our lights on? Could you put in a call for us to DPW? Thank you very, very much. - Karin H.

Sorry to take a while to get vbback to you about the lights out. They'r also out on Hobart. I've been told that it is a DPW issue and that the problem is the "Christmas Tree Lights" affect--the lights are wired in sequence and when one goes, they all go out. I'm told the problem has always existed but is scheduled to be addressed in December.
