Long ago, Irving Street east of 14th had lane markings and timed lights and it was a straight shot to the hospital during rush hour and the rest of the day. Over the years, the timing failed (or was overriden), the lane stripes faded (I have a theory about that), and now the street is shrinking.

I know I'm talking about roadway outside of MtP, but Irving is (or was) a primary route east for our neighborhood. Is there some other good east-bound road for us that has escaped my attention?

I find myself using Monroe to get past all of the DCUSA madness. It has speed humps and is very narrow, but honestly, Irving has become such a nightmare that I find this is a better alternative.
