| What is up with the line of Police cruisers on Park Rd. in the park between the Parkway and the bridge? I think I saw yellow crime scene tape.

| Body found in the woods there, just across the bridge. -- Jack

| I hope it wasn't that guy who lived in the park and used a crutch. I could never understand how he could survive the winter or figure out where his camp was.

I fear the same. Haven't seen him in some time. He wasn't a bad guy, albeit a bit deranged. -- Jack

| I found his camp. It is right where the police were standing. He must have died of exposure, maybe during the snowstorms.

And that causes me to feel guilt. I saw him hobbling around in the cold weather, and wondered what I could do for him. Then I went on to my warm home, and forgot about it. I should have done better. -- Jack

| I have seen that man making his way up Park Road in all sorts of weather for years. I kind of admired his stubborn independence and thought that he would not welcome someone interfering with that. We will never know. His suffering is over now.

| I believe I saw him post-blizzard/snowstorm. However I have not seen him in at least a week. Usually it was everyday. Sad.

| Has anyone confirmed whether the body found was the man with a crutch? I think his name is William.

| William was another homeless guy that used to hang out at the corner of Park & Mt Pleasant St. I haven't seen him around for months. The guy on crutches was a bit deranged but would sometime stop his ranting to say hello.

| You should soon be receiving accurate information about our deceased friend from a long time resident of Ingleside Terrace who knew him.

| Thanks micmac. I recall hearing that the homeless man actually lived at one time in Mount Pleasant a very long time ago.

OK, good. I am told that he's got relatives nearby in Columbia Heights, and I surely would like to have them know what's happened. The police are apparently stymied. -- Jack

I didn't do very well at finding out about this man. (The police weren't any help.) There was a final ceremony for him today, and a resident was kind enough to lend me the program, part of which is attached here, including a brief obituary. -- Jack
