|

Dear 3D MPD Patrol Officers:
I live very close to the corner of Park Road and Mt. Pleasant Street. Everyday I come home to same scene: drug selling occuring pretty much in the open. Cars drive up to buy drugs constantly.
With all the police presence and patrolling in MtP, how is it that this is allowed to occur? How can this be stopped? Why is this being allowed? |

| This information has been forwarded to the Focus Mission Lt Manalapez and he has assured me that he will have his guys to do buy bust operations in the area. |

| I have noticed a huge drop in activity on my block (18th and Monroe). Is there any information that can be shared with neighbors regarding your officers' work? Have there been any busts? Or maybe they've just changed their hours of operation? Thanks in advance...I hope the lull is not temporary! |

| I agree that 18th and Monroe corner has been quieter. On the other hand, I've seen suspicious activity in the alley parallel to and east of 18th Street, same area. I've found little ziplocks there, seen guy on bike talking on cell phone, seen groups of guys up to no good hanging back there. Some using for sure, maybe some dealing is still going on. |

I have passed by the corner of Mount Pleasant and Park and on two occasions heard people there asking "Who is down at Bancroft". Given that it was at times that are relatively late at night and dark I assume it wasn't about a friendly game of basketball.
And there have been talks about dealing on Bancroft property here in the past. I just hope that if there is dealing doing on there that the police in the area are monitoring that and that the DC laws have even stronger responses to drug dealing on public school property. |

I have posted on here a few times about that alley and how I have seen their stash in the bottom of the lamppost in the alley. The lampost covering is peeled back and there were drugs in it. I have not heard anything back relating to these posts and I have not seen any stepped up police presence in that alley. I really don't know what else residents are supposed to do.
Yesterday I witnessed a drug deal in Lamont Park around 8pm, it was still light outside. It was pretty obvious too. |

Yes, everyone should see a drop in the drug trade because we have stepped up the patrols in all the areas of the PSA. My manpower has been reallocated and now should be in our problems areas at the right times. These areas and times were identified by some of the good citizens in the PSA and the crime patterns.
When the complaint of the lamp post was first received we checked it out and put in a request to have it fixed. I will follow up on that this week.
There is basketball playing going on at Bancroft untill late. They are playing there because of the lights and we are monitering it closly to ensure that other activities are held in check.
I would like to thank every one who provides helpful information to us, because you are our eyes and ears in Mount Plasant. |

thanks,
I just wanted to say thanks and I realize that the police cannot be everywhere that everyone wants them to be. Its just frustrating when we hear the same complaints over and over go unaddressed. Good to know something is being done. |

| I'm at the bancroft playground in the early evening a lot with my kid and I've never seen any drug dealing there....just kids playing hoops and hanging. Now I do often see guys hanging out on the corner of Newton and 17th at Bancroft passing stuff on to buyers. |

| I've seen dealers on Park Rd. & Mt. Pleasant nearly every time I've come home late in the past few weeks. And yet it seems like there are a lot less police in the neighborhood in the past months than there were previously. Is there any way to get increased patrol? |

| Sturm I agree with you. The drug traffic has increased and there are less police. I also would like to request increased patrol please. |
