Would the administrator please answer the question about forumn censorship that was posed on this board?
[Jack's posting]
Interesting. Last night I received this e-mail from Lt Vines:
Date: Mon, 12 Feb 2007 18:41:01 -0500
From: "Vines, Moses \(MPD\)" <[email address removed - log in to view]>
Subject: adopt a Street in 301.doc
To: "Marika Torok" <[email address removed - log in to view]>, "Jack McKay" <[email address removed - log in to view]>
here are the assignments
A Word file with the assignments was attached to the Lieutenant's e-mail. I converted that document to PDF (makes it smaller, eliminates any Word macro virus issues), and posted it here as an attachment, with the note that Lt Vines had adapted "adopt a block" to "adopt a street".
This morning I see that my posting has disappeared, and has been replaced by one from Marika.
Why? For what reason has the administrator here deleted my post? Is this a new regime of Forum censorship?

| can't speak on the removal of the post but I noticed a similar post in the "police" forum...maybe it was just moved. |

Sure, we are happy to respond publicly--and we do have an email address should you wish to send it to us directly: [email address removed - log in to view].
To answer your question: We delete duplicates, as well as move postings to where we think they belong. For example, your (this) posting to the Administrator was posted under "Hot Questions" when (1) there is actually a section called, "Messages to/from the Administrator" and (2) what's hot to you might be cold to us; therefore, we reserve the right to move it where we feel it needs to be or delete it.
Hope that answers your question. |

So you deleted my message relaying Lt Vines' "adopt a block" information, because Marika posted a "duplication" some time later? Smacks of favoritism here. -- Jack |

Thanks for the response. Personally as an administrator of many systems, I don't agree with your policy - but I am glad that it is a public response.
Thanks

A response, yes, but an explanation, no. Why was my post erased, while Marika's later (duplicative?) post was kept? Could it be because Marika is Laurie's buddy, and I am not? -- Jack |
