Did anybody else hear what sounded like gunshots in the vicinity of Irving & 17th sometime between 9:00 and 9:30 on Monday night? It didn't sound like firecrackers this time...

I heard it. I'm sitting by an open east-facing window on the on 18th St. at Monroe. Noise came from east of here. I agree. It didn't sound like firecrackers.

I heard three "bangs" at exactly 9:30 -- it definitely didn't sound like fireworks. A bit later , there was one more. Had a window open in the back. I'm also between 17th-18th and Irving -- sound like it was in the direction of 17th st but not positive about that.

I am at 17th & Irving and the "shots" sounded a little farther away. I thought they sounded like they were coming from the east toward 16th St.

So did anybody else call the police? I called 911 at about 9:30 (right after hearing the shots). My partner and I sat outside for about 20 minutes and never saw any police go by, and never got a follow-up.

I'm on Irving near 17th and it sounded like they were pretty close, within a block or two; I talked to a neighbor who was out walking his dog on Irving St. and he also said they sounded close, and seemed to come from the direction of Mt. Pleasant St. They sounded at least as loud as the gunshot that killed Gregory Shipe, which was less than a half block from my front door (and which from the sound of it I would never have guessed was so close).

Ok. heard "shots" again at 9:24 last night coming from exactly the same direction (I was in the exact same position as the other night).

These were clearly fireworks as was made clear by the interval and the number of bangs.

I'm thinking the "shots" the other night were from the same jackasses, and merely fireworks.

We will probably be hearing more as 4th of July is approaching.

Lots of fireworks last night on the 1600 block of Hobart, from Hobart and from the alley - think some neighbors were going back and forth in their house. It's still a long time til the 4th of July, too. Starting early this year, I guess.
