Enhancing Our Imaginations: One Day Literary Youth Conference
Brief Summary

Enhancing Our Imaginations is a One Day Literary Youth Conference held at the Takoma DC Branch Library (Meeting Room), 5th and Cedar St., NW in Washington, DC, from 12:00-5:00PM on August 9, 2003, and will be targeted to 30 youth ages 10-17 who are residents of the Metropolitan area.

It is designed for youth who are interested in pursuing poetry as a literary art or currently engaged in creating poetry and are looking for venues to publish or perform their work. It seeks to aid young people in improving their general poetry-writing skills, understanding the history of the genre, meeting more seasoned literary artists and editors, while helping to sustain a poetry-loving community.

Goals and Objectives

In an effort to achieve its overall purpose, Enhancing Our Imaginations, has identified the following specific objectives:
- to expose young, emerging poets to the wealth of poetic resources and traditions that are here in the Metropolitan area by having them interact and meet other artists
- to provide assistance to developing poets in understanding the genre and perfecting their craft
- to stimulate the development of the overall poetry community in the Metropolitan area
